Block Pressure Spikes
Our check valves effectively protect the pump from sudden pressure spikes. In typical operation, oil flows from the pump to the system at speeds of 15–30 feet per second. When a directional valve is de-energized to stop flow, or a cylinder completes its stroke, oil can be rapidly deadheaded, causing line pressure to rise two to three times. The check valve closes automatically to prevent these pressure spikes from reaching the pump, ensuring system safety and reliability.
Prevent Oil Lines from Draining
Maintaining oil in the lines when the system is shut down is crucial. In many setups, the pump is located below the valves, cylinders, and motors. A check valve installed downstream of the pump prevents the lines from draining when the electric motor is turned off. This avoids vacuum formation and ensures the system remains ready for immediate operation, reducing wear and downtime.
Block Oil Flow from the Accumulator
For systems equipped with a hydraulic accumulator downstream of the pump, pressurized fluid can remain in the accumulator after shutdown. The check valve prevents reverse flow from the accumulator, protecting the pump from potential reverse rotation and ensuring system integrity.
